Questions about tires? Here are a few frequently asked questions. If you have any other questions please e-mail or give us a call!

How do I know it is time to replace my tires?
Tires are worn out when there is 1.6mm (or 2/32 inch) of tread depth remaining. You can use a tire gauge bought from a store or use this simple home test:

The Penny Test With the Queen's side of a penny facing you, place the penny into one of the treads. If you can see the tips of the crown, it is time to replace the tire.
Why do tires wear out?
Tires wear out due to numerous factors including friction, road conditions, driving speeds, breaking habits, inflation levels, vehicle maintenance, driving habits, and temperature.

At Pro Street Automotive we inspect your tires on a regular basic to make sure you know the quality of your tire remaining.
How often should I check my tire pressure?
Ideally you should check your tire pressure at least twice per month. Tires should be checked outside to get a true reading.

At Pro Street Automotive we check your tire pressure every time you come in for service.
Why do I need to rotate my tires?
Each tire actually supports a different amount of weight. By rotating tires you can drastically expand the life of the tire. Check your vehicle's owner manual for suggested rotation recommendations. If no rotation period is specified we suggest every 10,000km.
